Job Summary

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Shift Lead, the responsibilities of the Fitter/Welder position include fitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules. As a Fitter/Welder you will work in coordination with the Shift Lead and other senior management to ensure that the entire customer product is Fit and Welded to the specifications of each job and meets the outlined requirements. Consistent production of quality UT passable welds. Maintain production level as determined by supervisor.

Shifts:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding duties using a wire welder.
  • Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.
  • Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to weld in various directions: flat and horizontal.
  • Work includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.
  • Work with fitters or fitters/welders to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs.
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
  • Examining work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat bending, grinding, or bolting component parts to obtain required configurations and positions.
  • Read, understand and follow job order specifications engineering drawings, and/or work orders.
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
  • Maintain functionality of equipment. If any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor/lead or maintenance department.

  • Familiar with a variety of welder concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, and Air Arc
  • Must know welding symbols
  • Must know how to use temperature sticks and welding fillet gauges
  • Ability to weld with flux core and metal core wire
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures (sometimes due to season)

Educational Requirements

  •  High School Diploma or GED a plus
  • Up to 2 – 4 years welding experience or related field required

  • Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure

Working Conditions:

  • Full time shop exposure.
  • Extreme temperatures. (Sometimes due to season).

Available Positions

Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with all preparation of products and materials for the galvanizing process by hanging angle on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing.

Responsibilities

  1. Inspect and identify unsafe production fixtures, chains, and hooks to ensure proper repair or discard unsafe items
  2. Hand wire small to medium-sized parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing
  3. Pull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for racking
  4. Move lightweight pieces of steel by hand from different locations in the plant and yard
  5. Perform paddling functions to enhance the quality level of the various galvanized products using air guns to blow off zinc needles
  6. Use air or electric powered tools to help prepare steel for pickling or galvanizing
  7. Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping
  8. Work safely, protecting self and others from accident and injury

Job Summary

This position maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.  Electrical knowledge and experience is a plus. Required to work on all assigned task and will work under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor.  Demonstrate the ability to repair, troubleshoot and upgrade a variety of industrial machines and equipment in our steel manufacturing facility.  In this role you will complete maintenance service and repairs of plant equipment, machinery, etc.  You will maintain buildings and plant facilities in clean, orderly and working conditions.  Responsible for building a positive working relationship across other departments with a main focus on production.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematic, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  2. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  3. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  4. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  5. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the fabrication, positioning, alignment, and fitting the parts of structural steel products.  Position will assemble both finished products and the pieces that go into them.  The job of an assembler requires a range of knowledge and skills. Skilled assemblers put together complex structures. After determining how parts should connect, they use hand or power tools to trim, shim, cut, and make other adjustments to fit components together. Once the parts are properly aligned, they connect them with bolts and screws or weld or solder pieces together.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of steel structures shop operations preferred
  2. Ability to study and interpret blueprints then assemble components per drawings
  3. Experience in torqueing and bolt-up in assembly of steel structures
  4. Ability to accurately read and understand a tape measure to the 1/32 of an inch
  5. Work both independently and with a team in a high volume, fast-paced environment

Mechanical/Technical Skills:Assembly technicians need to be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, machines and motion-control robots to do their job.

Strength:Assembly technicians require strength to lift heavy objects during the assembly process.

Stamina:Assembly technicians are on their feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment
  • Input all shipment information into ERP computer system
  • Compare identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records
  • Make carrier arrangements when necessary
  • Participate in physical inventories and inventory reconciliation exercises to meet overall inventory accuracy goals
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities and destination are correct.
  • Receives incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment.
  • Will maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • Data entry of shipping information and creation of shipping documents from business software.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.

Job Summary

Delivers steel and equipment to various job sites.  CDL-B (A preferred).  Must be proficient in operating flatbed trailers.

Responsibilities:

  • Will operate tractor/trailer in the transportation of freight in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws with regard to run times and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
  • Conducts pre-trip inspections to ensure safe working conditions of the tractor and trailer prior to each trip.
  • Checks gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, and conduct inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring.
  • Required to load and unload trucks, inspect trucks for accuracy of order, compliance with weight restrictions and effectively secure the cargo.

Required Qualifications:

  • Heavy haul experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • CDL (A preferred)

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to shop hazards.
  • This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree and lifting up to 100 lbs.
